
General Information About Alex Luiz Ferreira
I was born in 1973 in the city of Araraquara, São Paulo State, Brazil. I graduated and obtained my MSc in Economics at the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP) in 1995 and 2001, respectively. Before deciding on the academic area, I worked for Shell, Exxon, Champion Paper and Pulp, and Unilever. In 2000, I enjoyed a research visit to the University of Kent, UK. My MPhil (2003) and PhD in Economics (2005) were obtained at this same University. The PhD thesis, "The Real Interest Rate Parity Hypothesis: an Investigation for Developed and Emerging Markets", unveiled the dynamics and determinants of real interest rates in a sample of countries. The work was supervised by Dr. Miguel Leon- Ledesma and had financial support from the Ministry of Science and Technology of Brazil - CNPq. In June 2006, I started working as a Lecturer at the Department of Economics, University of São Paulo at Ribeirão Preto (FEA-RP/USP). My research concentrates on Applied Macroeconomics with focus on International Finance, Economic Growth and Time-Series models.
